Published in Paperback by National Association for the Education (March, 1988)
Average review score:

Gave me the backround I neededAs an early childhood educator, I found this book to be invaluable resource on the importance of of dramatic play among young children. This clearly written book gives parents and educators alike a better understanding of the contributions of play to the cognitive, social and physical development of preschoolers, and includes constructive ideas for encouraging dramatic play in the school and home. This book gave me the backround I needed to explain the importance of dramatic play in my pre-school program.

Redback
Published in Audio Cassette by Isis Audio (July, 1994)
Average review score:

Excellent humorous book on human nature and Western societyThere are several wars going on... Women versus men, liberals versus conservatives, left wing versus right wing, academics versus real world, British versus colonials, rich versus poor etc. What are the odds that all of these wars victimize the same person, the hero (?) of this excellent book ! I cannot find any other way to comment on "Redback" except that I consider it one of the best examples of British humor and that I am certainly going to read every book written by Howard Jacobson

Published in Paperback by Business Journals (February, 1985)
Average review score:

The Definitive Guide to Gas TurbinesCompiled by the editor, with contributions from the aerospace and automobile industrial engineers, the theory and design behind gas turbine engines has never been clearer with Sawyer's handbooks (3 volume in total). Although not very suitable as a textbook introduction to gas turbines, interested readers should find this book useful and more pratical than most textbooks.

Wow, gorgeous mermaids, sea nymphs and faeriesMs. Sawyer has the most beautiful mind for the lovely ladies of nature. Her choice for surroundings, hair, style really bring the beauty of nature and fairydom into the world. I have seen the finished pattern peices used for suncatchers, mosaic stepping stones and full scale window peices which were breathtaking. With the use of dichroaic glass the iridesence of wings, scales and nature come to life...from easy to advanced this is a great pattern book for the lovers of nature and myth.

The Stolen White Elephant and Other Detective Stories (Oxford Mark Twain)
Published in Hardcover by Oxford University Press (November, 1996)
Average review score:

It's Mark Twain! As expected, this book from America's greatest writer is fun and funny. It's actually three books, put together in a facsimile edition by Oxford. The first books, _The Stolen White Elephant, etc._ is a collection of Clemens' humorous short stories and speeches. Though these do not get into the same serious criticism of society as _Huck Finn_ or _Connecticut Yankee_, they do have a biting tone and make the reader laugh. Despite the title, the only of these tales with any detectives is the title story. The second book, _Tom Sawyer, Detective_, follows Tom and Huck on a third adventure. Huck tells the story, and though the accent isn't done as thoroughly as in the prequel, the novel is funny and...well, funny! The last novel, _A Double-Barreled Detective Story_, makes fun of the whole detective genre.
I'd recommend this book to anyone who who missed Tom, Huck and Hank Morgan, and to anyone looking for a good laugh.
